About the role

Support that is calm, attentive and properly prepared.

Bank workers provide additional 1:1 or 2:1 support according to each child's assessed needs and agreed staffing ratio. Assignments may be a single session or a series of sessions, with workers matched to communication, sensory, mobility and support needs.

What you will do

  • Build safe, professional relationships with children and young people.
  • Follow the child's support plan, risk assessment and agreed staffing ratio.
  • Support communication through speech, visuals, PECS, gestures or agreed methods.
  • Take part in sensory, creative, physical and community activities.
  • Record clearly, protect privacy and report safeguarding concerns without delay.

Experience and support

Experience in SEND, short breaks, youth work, care, education or family support is useful, but the right values and transferable experience matter too. Relevant Level 2 or Level 3 qualifications are helpful rather than essential for every applicant.

Induction and role-specific preparation may cover safeguarding, autism, communication, Positive Behaviour Support, first aid, personal care, recording and professional boundaries.
